Kids Designer of the World

BREDA, THE NETHERLANDS - The international campaign ¡®Kids Designers by Princess¡¯ came to be after Princess CEO Aad Ouborg¡¯s youngest children came up with some ideas for household appliances.
The international campaign ¡®Kids Designers by Princess¡¯ came to be after Princess CEO Aad
Ouborg¡¯s youngest children came up with some ideas for household appliances.
The children¡¯s drawing of a design for a Princess product turned out to be one of Princess¡¯ bestsellers.
Jaap and Lotte put their household appliance design on their father¡¯s desk because they were
bothered by a lack of user-friendliness.
Aad Ouborg saw the potential in the drawings and showed them to his clients. And with success!
Lotte Ouborg for instance, designed the Lotte Family Juicer and Jaap Ouborg invented the Jaap Fry &
Keep Warm Castle and the Jaap Multi Snack & Sandwich maker. The kids¡¯ products have been a
great success all over the world, from America to the Far East and from Europe to the Middle East,
with several 100.000 units having been sold already.
The Lotte Family Juicer and Jaap Multi Snack & Sandwich Maker have won the Product of the Year
2010 award.
One of Princess¡¯ most successful international campaigns was developed because children are often
very creative in terms of finding ¡®simple solutions¡¯.
¡°Are you the new Princess Kids Designer for 2010?"
Worldwide, thousands of drawings were submitted, out of which Princess selected a winner for each
country. All national winners automatically competed in the global Kids Designer of the World 2010
competition. After careful consideration, the jury chose the new Kids Designer of the World.
Once again, the worldwide Princess Kids Design Competition 2010 produced a great talent.
On Wednesday 12 May last, the idea submitted by 12-year-old Carmen Malo Alores from Spain
was chosen as the winner by the Kids Design jury, which consisted of Jury President and top designer
Jan des Bouvrie, Edwin Rutten, and the present Princess Kids Designers Lotte and Jaap Ouborg. The
winning idea was judged on 6 criteria: simplicity, originality, design, commercial feasibility, producibility
and sustainability.
Carmen Malo Alores from Spain has officially been awarded with the title Princess Kids Designer of
the World 2010. If there is sufficient interest from clients and if it is technically feasible, the product will
be produced by Princess and sold worldwide. And for each unit sold, Carmen will receive a royalty.
