Spectacular official opening of the Princess factory in YuYao in China
 

On Tuesday 9 October the first independent factory of Princess in China has officially been opened in a spectacular manner.

 
In the presence of hundreds of officials, distributors and other invitees a festive ‘flag’ ceremony was held, followed by the traditional ‘lion’s eye dotting’ ceremony, thus heralding a new era for Princess in China.
 
The factory
The production of four Princess products has been taken care of by the own factory in the Chinese province of Ningbo since 1 March. The new factory, named Ningbo Princess Manufacturing Electrical Appliances Ltd. is located in the city of YuYao. This is 3.5 hours from Shanghai by car. The Princess factory currently offers employment to 150 persons, next year this amount will increase to 600 employees, and has a multifunctional layout. The Table Chef, Jan des Bouvrie Blender, Jan des Bouvrie Hotpot and the Multi Wonder Chef are manufactured in YuYao. Even though the production started earlier, the official opening only took place now so that the invitees could have a look at the operational factory. 
Spectacular
During the opening Princess once again emphasised the own philosophy ‘Business is Entertainment’ by having the Princess ambassadors Cas Spijkers and Felice cook at the production lines. Apart from the culinary treats Princess also brought the local atmosphere to the factory. Stands with authentic Chinese industry and art and Chinese acts supported the festive happening. Princess ambassador Tonny Eyk surprised the audience with typical Chinese piano music accompanied by a choir of 20 Chinese children. After the official opening and a visit to the Princess factory, all the guests were invited for an evening of ‘hot potting’, a typical Chinese dish.
Total control
Since 1994 Princess has been producing a large part of its assortment in China. At this moment this involves 95 percent of the total production. Until recently production was, however, always outsourced. With the new factory Princess fully takes control. Intensive supervision on price and quality constitutes an important focus. By carrying out the production in-house the intermediate cost layer, which comes along with the intervention of external factories, disappears. Moreover, from now on the people of the Princess organisation in China can directly monitor the quality.
